Structural Steel Painting
Structural steel comes in a variety of engineered designs. Be it Structurally supporting or Architectural. These steel structures made mostly with carbon steel, if left exposed without protection, will develop corrosion. This can affect the integrity of the steel.
The longevity of structural steel structures is dependant on their resistance from corrosion.
The longer corrosion is left; it can lead to pitting and loss of steel, which can affect the structural integrity and, if left too long, may require steel sections to be replaced as an unnecessary expense.
C.I.P. (Commercial & Industrial Painters) can help.
Our C.I.P. (Commercial & Industrial Painters) team of inspectors and estimators are available to review the condition of the structural steel. We provide a specification and a free quotation that meets the requirements to restore the steel for many years.
Exposed coatings will eventually wear down from U.V. and acid rain. Moisture will migrate to the steel, and when combined with oxygen, an electrochemical reaction will cause corrosion.
C.I.P. (Commercial & Industrial Painters) removes any corrosion and defective coatings using various methods. After the recommended surface preparation completion, our certified applicators will apply a protective hi-solids epoxy barrier coating system to protect the steel. A top coat of an abrasion, U.V. resistant urethane is then applied for added protection against the elements. “Stripe coating” between coats on all steel edges, corners and weld seams is recommended to obtain sufficient D.F.T. (Dry film thickness).
For additional cathodic protection, C.I.P. (Commercial & Industrial Painters) can add a zinc-rich primer to abrasive blasted bare steel before applying the remaining coating system.
