Marine Painting

Marine coatings are essential for maintaining a vessel’s condition. Some C.I.P. Project examples are as follows:

Hull Painting consists of pressure washing to remove any marine growth, which can reduce the efficiency of the ship and increase fuel consumption and chlorides and other contaminants, which can impact the new coating system.

After cleaning and removal of contaminants in ‘most cases,’ the existing coatings and corrosion are removed to bare metal by sandblasting. The exposed steel is then coated with an anti-corrosive coating and top-coated with an anti-fouling coating, which will prevent marine growth and allow the vessel to maintain its speed and reduce its fuel consumption.

Ballast Tank Painting consists of preparing and coating a complex and intricate steel structure within a confined space. After removal of debris and contaminants, the existing defective coatings and corrosion are removed, and an anti-corrosive coating is applied while maintaining acceptable ambient conditions. “Stripe coating” between coats on all steel edges, corners and weld seams is recommended to and obtain sufficient D.F.T. (Dry film thickness)

Potable Water Tank Painting is necessary to protect the steel and help maintain a sanitized condition within the tank for storing drinking water. After the tank is cleaned and prepared, a solvent-free epoxy is applied while continuously following the project specification and guidelines from the Coating Manufacturer.
